State-of-the-Art Neurological Testing at Our Babylon Office

Nassau Suffolk Neurology offers advanced in-office diagnostic testing to support accurate diagnosis and effective, personalized treatment planning for every patient.

EMG / NCV (Electromyography & Nerve Conduction Velocity) Specialized studies that evaluate muscle and nerve function. Used to identify peripheral neuropathy, radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, and muscular conditions. Helps investigate symptoms like muscle weakness, tingling, numbness, and chronic pain.

EEG (Electroencephalogram) A non-invasive test that records the brain’s electrical activity via sensors on the scalp. Most commonly used to diagnose epilepsy, seizure disorders, sleep disorders, encephalopathy, and dementia-related brain changes.

BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) Measures how the brain processes sound and assesses auditory nerve pathways. Useful for diagnosing hearing loss, auditory nerve damage, multiple sclerosis, and neurological disorders affecting hearing or balance.

VER (Visual Evoked Response) Measures brain electrical signals in response to visual stimuli. Used to detect conditions affecting the optic nerve and visual pathways, including optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis.

Balance Testing A series of evaluations assessing the vestibular system — including the inner ear, brain, and sensory pathways. Used to diagnose vertigo, Meniere’s disease, vestibular neuritis, and other causes of dizziness and imbalance.

ANS Study (Autonomic Nervous System) Evaluates the body’s involuntary functions — heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and more. Used to detect autonomic dysfunction related to diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other neurological conditions.
